Cult cinema, stitched from the scraps and screaming for more

ABOUT US

Screen 13 is a new independent community cinema project we’re building from the ground up. Our goal is to create a space where film lovers can come together to watch the strange, the cult, the classic and the just plain weird, the kinds of films that deserve to be seen with an audience. We want Screen 13 to feel like a place to hang out, talk about films, and experience something different from your usual trip to a multiplex.

Right now, we’re in the process of getting things set up and are planning to launch our first events in Leeds in the new year. Alongside our regular screenings, we’re working on things like themed nights, a book-to-film club, documentary Sundays, and collaborations with local artists, performers and filmmakers. If you’d like to get involved, collaborate, or just want to know more, drop us a message we’d love to hear from you.

    FAQ

    What is Screen 13?

Screen 13 is an independent community cinema project based in Leeds, created to celebrate cult, classic, and alternative films in a welcoming, DIY-inspired space.

    Are you open yet?

Not quite! We’re currently getting things set up and planning our first events for early 2026. Keep an eye on our socials or join our mailing list for updates.

    Why “Screen 13”?

It’s a nod to the kind of weird, offbeat and slightly rebellious cinema we love, a place for the films that don’t always fit neatly anywhere else.

What kinds of films will you show?

Everything from 70s, 80s and 90s cult favourites to horror, grindhouse, strange independents, documentaries, and the occasional classic. Expect variety, surprises, and plenty of personality.

Will you only show horror movies?

No, horror is part of our DNA, but we’re just as into cult comedies, punk documentaries, oddball arthouse, and the wonderfully weird.

Can I volunteer or get involved?

Yes, once we’re closer to launch we’ll be looking for volunteers to help with events and operations.

Do you work with local businesses?

We love to, from local breweries to artists and bookshops, collaboration is a big part of what we do.

    How can I contact you?

Email us at hello@screen13.co.uk – whether it’s collaboration ideas, film suggestions, or just to say hi.

Not safe. Not polished. Not sorry

Apparently we had reached a great height in the atmosphere, for the sky was a dead black, and the stars had ceased.
